Rob Moodie is a Fife based Artist, currently living in Kingbarns just south of St Andrews. He studied Architecture part-time for 3 years at Glasgow School of Art and then for a further 3 years full-time, at the University of Toronto, Canada, on a Beaverbrook Scholarship. Rob graduated with a BArch in 1959 then following a year working in Sweden, he studied Town & Regional Planning part-time at Glasgow College of Technology, now Strathclyde University, while working as an architect in Glasgow and Edinburgh. In 1965 he commenced work with West Lothian County Council where in 1969 he was appointed County Planning Officer. On the reorganisation of local government in 1975 he was appointed Depute Director of Planning for Lothian Regional Council until his retirement in 1993. His last architectural design project was to extend and update his own house in Kingsbarns in 2009.
A member of the SSAA since 1991, he has exhibited regularly with new paintings and some sculpture, having experimented with sheet material, MDF and steel. Subjects have varied, but include portraits, landscapes, still life and abstract. A variety of media has been explored including watercolour, acrylic, oil, pastel, and collage. Themes have ranged from “Nature Conquers Machine” to a “Treasured Journey” and “Band Practice” to “Winter in Kingsbarns”. Rob is currently working on a book of his work as a record for his family and friends.

Membership of the Society is open to all registered architects, past and present students of architecture and those who have worked in architecture, planning and landscape in Scotland. Annual membership is currently only £20, with a reduced rate of £10 for students.
