After a start in engineering John made a career move to architecture. He studied at Napier University with a degree in Building Technology and then worked for various architectural practices in Edinburgh.
After a short time studying at Edinburgh College of Art, John ended up working in Oman and had an exhibition there based on some of the local landscapes.
He is a past President of the Scottish Society of Architect Artists and a past Arts Convener of the Scottish Arts Club.
John preferer to paint in oils and is always attracted to try and catch that moment of interest onto his canvas.
